A collection of Singapore photos taken by H. D. Horton between 1967 and 1973.  My thanks to his son, Scott Horton for sending these to me. Scott said that he was at the Singapore American School, but also used to play in a band called 'Childhood's End' for dances for St John's and other British schools and also at the naval and air bases.

My thanks to Frank van der Weerden for these four photographs featuring two of the many Singapore Fire Stations.

Alexandra Fire Station 1953-2003

The station was in use from 1954 till 2003 and on the same location a new fire station was opened in 2005 together with a police neighbourhood station and the 1st Division HQ of the SCDF.

Alexandra Fire Station - today

Sembawang Fire Station

Photo taken in 1986, Sembawang fire station was handed over to the local government on 01-10-1971 and the station was closed in 2005 when a new one was opened in Yishun.

DFB Sembawang

Year taken unknown.  The logo reads 1945 and DFB. I guess DFB stands for Defence Fire Brigade and 1945 the year of the opening of the station.

Simon John Ryan has been in touch to say that DFB stands for Dockyard Fire Brigade and that the photo must have been taken after 1952.

Thanks to Robert Walker for these two photos of the Britannia Club, circa 1965
