Lam Chun See reports that Gillman
Barracks was renamed Gillman Camp after the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)
took over the place from the British Forces in the 70's. Later
the SAF moved out, and today it is leased to an assortment of private
enterprises on a short term basis. These included restaurants,
furniture store, offices and even a church. It is now called
Gillman Village. Many of the old buildings, including the
swimming pool are no longer there. The big football field has
become part of a new school.
Lam Chun See has a Blog called
Good
Morning Yesterday which is worth a visit.
